It's still available from specialty suppliers but quite expensive in comparison to Elon or hydroquinone. It's unique characteristics are the ability to develop warm toned images in bromide papers and also it's use in various stand developer's such as Crawley's FX-2. Films developed in Glycin show very little base fog and Glycin is known to be the most even developing agent used for films. Unfortunately Glycin is also virtually insoluble in water but will dissolve in acidic or basic solutions, alcohol's and cetones. Eventually! |
